Stephen King is putting some of his best short stories on film for an episodic mini-series on TNT called Nightmares & Dreamscapes. Most of the stories in the series are from King's compilation of the same name, although a couple were also drawn from Everything's Eventual and Night Shift. The series is scheduled to begin on July 12th at 9pm EST with "Battleground" starring William Hurt.

I have read all of the stories included in this series, and the stories are quite good. The TV spot available at TNT's website (click Watch Video) gives me the impression of good production quality, and the cast speaks for itself: William Hurt, William H. Macy, Stephen Weber, and other familiar names are involved.

If this were to eventually become a Tales from the Crypt style season-length series from King, I might actually start watching TV regularly again.
